COMMUNITY OUTREACH- Millers Creek
         Ar
tistic play is an essential part of our human diet. Without it we are parched and starved.

                                                                                                          M.C. Richards

During the Spring 2007 academic semester, Dr. Keith Davis and Marisa Cornell, community counseling and expressive arts therapy graduate student, visited Karla Price's special education classroom at Millers Creek Elementary School in Wilkes Co., NC. The workshop centered around the therapeutic use of music in the classroom setting.

The expressive arts therapy faculty and students are committed to community outreach through various projects including: teaching workshops, professional presentations, professional publications, and volunteer work. With ambition and creativity, students are encouraged to initiate supervised community contact to serve the citizens of the region who could benefit from exposure to their training, such as the music workshop conducted at Millers Creek Elementary School.
