A Conversation with Darryl Hunt and JoAnne Goetz
February 21st from 3 to 5pm
Linville Falls Room, Student Union
ASU Reich College of Education Alumna JoAnne Goetz (Class of 1956) is a retired middle grades teacher who recently wrote a book on her life, thirty-year teaching career, and her friendship with Darryl Hunt. She taught Darryl in the sixth grade in Winston-Salem and remained friends with him through the 20 years he spent in prison after being wrongly convicted of murder. Charges against Hunt were dismissed in 2004 after DNA evidence linked another man to the crime.
Darryl and JoAnne will be on campus Thursday, February 21st to share their stories and explore this special life-long relationship between student and teacher.
The HBO film documentary made about Darryl's life, "The Trials of Darryl Hunt," will be shown Tuesday, Feb. 19, at 7 p.m. in Belk Library. More information about the film is available at http://www.hbo.com/docs/programs/darrylhunt/
