Re-visioning Teacher Education

State Board of Education is requiring all teacher education programs to meet new standards. The plan for how ASU will meet the standards must be completed by June 30, 2009.

  In addition to all other state and institutional requirements, the candidate must meet each of the descriptors identified in this document to be recommended for licensure.
• Guidelines for Electronic Evidences (pdf ~160KB) (doc ~264KB) [added 03/18/09]
  In January 2008, the State Board of Education approved in concept a new program approval process. The process focuses on outcomes, rather than inputs, eliminates barriers and obstacles that do not ensure quality, and allows greater institutional flexibility based on increased rigor and accountability.

  The following rubric was developed to align with and reflect the North Carolina Professional Teaching Standards approved by the North Carolina State Board of Education on June 7, 2007. The rubric also parallels the North Carolina Inservice Teacher Evaluation Rubric that is used to assess the professional performance of inservice teachers throughout the state.
