The Reich College of Education’s Second Annual "Swing for Scholarships" Golf Benefit was held on October 9, 2007 at Rock Barn Golf & Spa.
One hundred and thirty six golfers played the Jones Course at Rock Barn Golf & Spa under very sunny skies. The tournament raised over $30,000 and net proceeds will support scholarships for undergraduate teacher education majors. We are grateful to our presenting sponsor, the RCOE Advancement Board, for their leadership, generous donations and countless hours devoted to making the tournament a success.
We are excited and proud to report to you the names of the sophomore scholarship recipients from last year’s tournament proceeds. These students originate from Buncombe, Davidson, Gaston and Guilford counties, demonstrating Appalachian’s statewide commitment to training future teachers for North Carolina. Each student was awarded a $2,000 merit-based scholarship for the 2007-2008 academic year. They are as follows:
This year’s tournament proceeds will be awarded in the spring for the 2008-2009 academic year.
